Purple Flag - making cities safer for women and gender diverse people

The Office of the 24-Hour Economy Commissioner (O24HEC) and TfNSW commissioned this work for Purple Flag - an initiative to identify opportunities for improving the perceptions of safety for women and gender diverse people living, working and visiting the Sydney CBD (York St to King St) and Parramatta CBD.

The Purple Flag Pilot Program was launched by O24HEC as one of their key initiatives to reform the nigh-time economy of Sydney. The project involved night-time ‘walkshops’ with women and gender diverse people, and co-design workshops led by JOC. Blix were engaged to create a cohesive urban design analysis and identify design opportunities to improve these two city centres using the latest local and international precedents.
